The Beacon of Hope Resource Center was founded by homeowners
Denise and Doug Thornton whose once flooded home serves as a
refuge for weary neighbors and is now a lifeline for all
homeowners who seek information and resources to rebuild
their own devistated homes in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Our mission is to assist returning homeowners by providing
information and acting as a communication link between city
agencies to restore basic services such as mail delivery,
electricity, debris removal, etc. The Beacon of Hope also
recommends a complete aray of contractors in every profession
who are state licensed and insured. We organize groups of
volunteers to clean yards from doorstep to curb removing
debris and landscape vegetation and provide lawn maintenance.
The Beacon of Hope is here to help enhance the quality of
life, strengthen our ability as a group to solve our own
problems and facilitate the rebirth of our beloved neighborhood.
We are "leading the way home".
Description:
Having a clean, debris free environment encourages hopeful
attitudes for returning residents. Clean streets, yards and
public properties instills confidence and a feeling of safety
which is essential to repopulating neighborhoods.
