Meals-On-Wheels are hot, nutritious lunches that are delivered Monday through Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to the homebound elderly who meet the requirements. Meals-On-Wheels are delivered by friendly volunteers, many of whom are the only people the homebound elderly see during the day. Weekend and Holiday meals are also available to seniors at the highest risk of malnutrition.
Meals are provided on a donation basis and participants are encouraged to donate toward the cost of their meals as they are able. The suggested donation is $2.75 per meal.
Loaves & Fishes Centers provides Meals-On-Wheels to homebound seniors and group dining at 30 locations in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties. Several of our centers offer ethnic menus. Meals are also available to qualified seniors
on weekends.
Loaves & Fishes Centers could not exist without the help of more than 350 volunteers every weekday. Our volunteers help prepare and serve meals to seniors in 30 different Meals-On-Wheels volunteer meal sites throughout Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties, as well as deliver nearly 2,700 Meals-On-Wheels to homebound elderly on an average day.

Starting in July, Loaves and Fishes had to comply with new, stricter state regulations for background checks on volunteers in all types of federal- and state-funded programs.
I'd encourage anyone who would like to help the Meals-On-Wheels program - even if you only want to be an "emergency" driver - to call Loaves and Fishes and get signed up right now. That way, the background check can be completed and you will be cleared to work when the weather is bad. L&F is a great organization and deserves your support.
