Training Classes, Construction, Bio-Remediation Instruction available at NENA (The Lower 9th Ward Neighborhood Empowerment Network Association)

NENA has coordinated the myriad volunteer relief efforts that are contributing to the rebuilding of the Lower 9th Ward, evolving into a clearinghouse for information, relief supplies, and volunteer assistance including house cleaning, mold remediation, home rebuilding, and other services.

As homes are cleaned and made ready for reconstruction, NENA helps to provide technical support to residents and volunteer agencies with construction skills to stabilize salvageable homes and rebuild destroyed structures. NENA registers organizations seeking to send volunteers to the community; builds a relationship with the organization; and coordinates, schedules, and helps manage the volunteer assignments. In total, NENA has channeled more than 200 volunteers, and has formed partnerships with Hands On Network and Common Ground Collective, among others.
