Volunteering

“Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve . . . You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love…”—Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia relies on thousands of volunteers every year to fulfill our mission of feeding people in need in Southwest Georgia. We work with individuals, businesses, and civic organizations to design a fun and rewarding volunteer program. This community support saves our Food Bank thousands of dollars every year, allowing us to put more of our resources to work feeding the hungry.

Ways to Help

Sorting and Repackaging

This is our biggest area of need. When food is donated to the Food Bank in bulk, it needs to be put in smaller packaging and put into boxes so it can be distributed.

Groups and individuals can volunteer Monday through Friday by appointment.

Contact Cheryl Pittman at (229) 883-5959 for more information.

Clerical Work

The Food Bank is always looking for helpers around the office. Duties could include word processing, volunteer database updating, or assisting with bulk mailings.

Volunteers can be utilized Monday through Friday by appointment.
